Types of Exosomes: The Difference Between Autologous, Allogeneic, Plant-Derived and Animal-Derived Exosomes

You now hear the word “exosome” everywhere, from skincare advertising to hair-loss clinics. But an exosome is not one single thing. Which cell it came from, whose body it came from and where it was produced are the variables that decide how safe a product is, how effective it can be and where it may legally be used. In this article we classify exosomes by source, compare the four types side by side, and explain, with evidence, why autologous exosomes, prepared from the patient’s own blood in the same session, are the more sensible choice for medical and aesthetic applications.
