The effect of the anticoagulant on the cellular composition and growth factor content of platelet-rich plasma

Summary

In-vitro study with 12 healthy participants comparing three PRP preparation protocols differing in sodium citrate (SC) dose. The standard 0.9 mL SC protocol yielded the highest platelet capture efficiency (CE) and the highest total TGF-β1 and PDGF levels, while the SC-free protocol gave the highest VEGF content. SC dose directly shapes PRP cellular composition and growth factor profile.
